Ain’t We Got Fun

The Richard Whiting Songbook

“Ain’t We Got Fun: The Richard Whiting Songbook” grew out of Broadway Powerhouse, Carol Woods’ wish to create a tribute to her friend and colleague, Margaret Whiting. While developing the project with Margaret’s long-time musical director, Hubert “Tex” Arnold, the idea arose that an excellent way to remember and honor Margaret would be through the songs of the man who gave her the gift of music, her father, Richard Whiting (1891-1938). Richard was one of the most prolific and important composers of the Great American Songbook. From 1913 until his death in 1938, he and his lyric partners wrote a remarkable number of hit songs for vaudeville, records, and the movies. In “Ain’t We Got Fun” Carol sings many of his most popular songs including My Ideal, Too Marvelous for Words, Beyond the Blue Horizon, Breezin’ Along With The Breeze, and the title song Ain’t We Got Fun, as well as many of his timeless, but forgotten gems, all masterfully arranged by Tex Arnold in styles reminiscent of Carol’s turn as Matron “Mama” Morton in CHICAGO and her soulful performance of Let It Be in ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. This electrifying show makes for a sensation experience for audiences who are sure to leave exclaiming “ain’t we got fun” and more!!
